Talk:Point and Click Interface
From Gameontology
This entry is currently listed as a Child of Indirect Manipulation. However, I think there are many games where there seems to be pointing and clicking for direct manipulation.
For example, in Meteos (DS), using the stylus you control a cursor for dragging blocks around. Clicking would be the equivalent of "pressing" (when the stylus is against the screen, any block underneath it will move up/down if allowed. You basically use the stylus to directly manipulate blocks.
Basically, it seems that when you can DRAG, as well as point and click, there is a direct manipulation of some sort. Hmm...maybe it's not only about the drag, but about the fact that sometimes, the actual movement of the cursor also has gameplay meaning.
For example, in Yoshi Touch & Go (DS), you use the cursor to "draw" lines on the screen. These turn into platforms that Yoshi can walk on. Again, click seems to be the equivalent of "press", and there is no explicit "drag".
