Talk:Input Devices
From GameOntology
Haptic technology refers to technology which interfaces the user via the sense of touch by applying forces, vibrations and/or motions to the user. It is an emerging technology that promises to have wide reaching applications. Although haptic devices are capable of measuring bulk or reactive forces that is applied by the user it should not to be confused with touch or tactile sensors that measure the pressure or force excerted by the user to the interface.
Traditionally, video games do not use haptic input devices. I'm not going to delete the comments made about haptic devices, because (technically) it could be argued that anything you touch is haptic, though this is not what most people mean when they are speaking about haptic technologies.
- Great observation. Do you think we should perhaps have a new child entry called "Haptic Device" or something like that? I also removed the sentence that referenced haptic from the entry description. - Jp 11:26, 6 November 2006 (EST)
- I'm also wondering whether we should have an entry for dancepads, guitar controllers and the Wiimote? Hmm.. 130.207.106.64 16:12, 26 January 2007 (EST)
