Talk:Evaluation of Ending

From GameOntology

Jesper Juul, in Half-Real (MIT Press, 2005), gives a "classic game definition" that includes a component called "Valorization of Outcome." He writes, on page 40:

Valorization means that some of the possible outcomes of the game are better than others. In a multiplayer game, the individual players are usually assigned conflicting positive outcomes (this is what creates conflict in a game).

...

Positive outcomes are usually harder to reach than negative outcomes-this is what makes a game challenging. A game where it is easier to reach the positive outcome than to not reach it would likely not be played much.

Great observation. We should probably roll Juul's definition into the Ontology entry in some way. Jp 15:56, 8 February 2007 (EST)
